Online sales on Cyber Monday rose 18 percent to $1.74 billion, the highest daily online total since 2001, per comScore. Four day Thanksgiving weekend spending fell 2.9 percent to $57.4 billion, NRF says, while total holiday spending is seen rising 2.9 percent to $602.1 billion.
American shoppers bought more cars and especially small sport utility vehicles in November. The annual rate reached 16.4 million with Thanksgiving weekend driving gains, while compact SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR V grew to 15.5 percent of U S sales and 1.8 million sold through November.
Owner Sam Darowich announces the Midway Diner will open in two to three weeks at 2040 Midway Blvd near the Midway Mall. About 40 employees will be hired, including roughly 20 full-time positions.
