Evidence of old quake near Seattle
A 1 000 year old seismic event near Seattle raised and lowered coastal land creating a 10 mile by four mile uplift and a powerful tidal wave through Puget Sound. Studies by USGS and University of Washington place the quake on a Seattle fault, with a potential magnitude near 7 3 on the Richter scale, though such events are rare.
