United Press reports a tentative agreement where a subsidiary would supply oil to Romania and other sources outside the United States if a League oil embargo is imposed. In return a 31 seat monopoly would be granted for oil supply to certain outlets, with credits for purchases to be advanced. Verification was cautious and expected to have wide repercussions in Washington and Geneva.
Kiwanis clubs of Wellington and Lorain join with the Erie Kiwanis club at Hotel Newell for a meeting tomorrow night. Ben A. Arneson, Kiwanis district governor and political science professor at Ohio Western University, will speak on government and likely discuss trends toward dictatorships.
Building inspector L. P. Kaiser reports Elyria issued 26 building permits in the month with 11.25 estimated improvements and $92 in fees. Sign, plumbing, and electrical permits totaled 3, 28, and related counts, compared with 21 permits and 19,140 estimates in October.

The Knights of Columbus announce a campaign to provide a new toy for every needy child in Elyria at Christmas. A committee led by Mor an includes Southam Smith Ross Roth Elberts Peliz Rigo Stolezenburg Young and McCarthy. They will meet tonight at the K of C club rooms to plan financing, child identifications, and toy purchases and delivery.
Forwalk Co Dec 4 The Harold wife of Allan Hanes testified that her husband shot Max Peabody 39 when surprised him at the Hanes home last summer ending a long smouldering feud between the two men who worked together on the Humphrey farm near here.
CCC workers from the Elyria CCC camp operate full time on ditch and drainage work across Lorain County. County officials estimate up to $500,000 in improvements could be done if the camp remains two years or more. The work saves farmers about 96 percent of the cost they would incur privately, contingent on farmers supplying teams or tractors to assist.
Lorain County gained 64 new citizens as Common Pleas Judge D A Cook granted naturalization after final exams conducted with Cleveland officers. Certificates will be presented at a December 14 ceremony at Hawthorne School Lorain at 2eth Street. The group includes residents from Elyria Lorain and other areas with 11 countries represented led by Great Britain Czechoslovakia and Italy among others.

Shively Dusthimer and club secretary A H Waters attended an all day session in Cleveland to hear district leaders discuss Kiwanis activities.
The case seeking to halt a $124,500 PWA water project awaits appellate review. A temporary injunction, set to dissolve Saturday, may be extended if the Court of Appeals continues it. Judge Phillip Wilkins ordered the dissolve date moved to allow appeal. Plaintiff is taxpayer T. R Cookston.
Observers see signs a large scale battle may erupt on the northern front as Ethiopian forces push toward Makale and harass Italian positions behind the Makale line. He may use planes and tanks, reduce reliance on fuel, and employ mules to support operations, mirroring or surpassing prior tactics. The campaign has seen limited clashes and few casualties amid difficult terrain and sparse Allied resistance.
A mother saved her daughter from a fatal stove fire as the child prepared for the night. In the blaze the daughter suffered burns to a leg and arm while the mother alerted responders. The event details and full sequence remain unclear from the fragmentary report.

Two farm youths Clarence Retter twenty four and Dale Gordon twenty one were killed when the automobile they rode in was struck by a Nickel Plate freight train east of Shawtown Findlay Ohio. The car was carried nearly a mile before the train halted. Both bodies were mangled and thrown from the vehicle. Hancock county coroner Dr H O Crosby rendered an accidental death verdict. Gordon’s parents reside in McClure and Rutters in Grand Rapids. Both youths were employed on a farm near Shawtown.
