Ballots on a fast parade to Tallahassee

A yellow Ryder truck carrying nearly half a million contested presidential ballots crossed Florida on a 450 mile Turnpike run from West Palm Beach to Tallahassee. The trip drew nationwide TV coverage and comment from OJ Simpson. Simpson said the ride lacked Bronco suspense but noted ballots would reach the state capital. Ryder benefited from the publicity as the public spectacle drew viewers.

Vasi overcomes Flynn in county commissioner race recount likely

Lorain voting mix-up blamed on precinct booth swaps

Officials Hope York May Stay in Elyria Plant

Elyria city and union officials expressed guarded optimism on Thursday that a multi million dollar incentives package could save York International Corp's plant on Industrial Parkway. The state offers tax credits, low interest financing, and worker training funds. York plans a decision by mid December amid talks to transfer operations to Wichita Kansas and Monterrey Mexico.

Lorain drug ring used grocery store as cocaine delivery point

Three men used Del Rey Products in Lorain as the distribution hub for cocaine. Everardo Perez unloaded a kilogram with snacks, Juan Sanchez helped move drugs to a home on East 28th Street, and Humberto Chavez aided in street distribution. Officers found cocaine stashes and cash linked to the case, with 23 suspects identified.
