Dietrich Wins Daytona SCCA Title After Transmission Glitch
Sandusky driver Chuck Dietrich captures Ohio SCCA amateur championship at Daytona International Speedway despite a transmission hiccup that sent his McLaren into neutral on a critical banked section. Rivals led by Gus Hutchinson in a Lotus finish three seconds behind after Dietrich coasted to the checkered flag. Dietrich cited missing shifts as the race’s decisive moment and praised the tortoise over the hare outcome.
