Berlin Lifeline Accord Denied by East German Foreign Minister

East German Foreign Minister Lothar Bolz rejected claims that Western powers hold travel rights through Berlin or access to lifelines. He asserted Berlin remains within the Soviet occupied zone and the German Democratic Republic, with railway and canal traffic under Soviet authority. Four-Year-Old Tyler Smith Dies From Auto Crash Injuries

Four year old Tyler Smith, son of Mr and Mrs Fred H Smith of Diagonal Road LaGrange, died at Elyma Memorial Hospital after injuries from a car collision last Wednesday. He suffered a skull fracture a left thigh fracture and multiple lacerations. He leaves his parents two sisters Gayle and Marilyn and a brother Dennis. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Cold snap lowers Ohio temperatures and snarls travel

Ohio faced subzero readings as the coldest November in 29 years eased to near zero. State routes remained ice free after snowfall though pockets of snow lingered in the southeast. Northeastern Ohio bore the brunt with gusts to 72 mph and blizzard conditions near Cleveland. Authorities reported at least 32 deaths statewide from the holiday weather, with highways and utilities strained by the storm.

Fire kills three in Barberton tar paper shacks blaze

A fire swept four tar paper shacks along the Ohio Canal in Barberton, killing John Cochran 78 Wheeler Ward 79 and Roosevelt Dobbs 19. Sixteen others including 10 children escaped. Officials say an overheated stove started the blaze. Damage estimated at 14000. Fire crews faced access issues using only portable equipment.

Soviet Plan Rejected at Geneva Conference

The West rejected a Soviet plan for preventing surprise attack amid talks in Geneva. French Ambassador Pierre de Leusse called it unacceptable for its political nature and urged the conference stay to technical discussions. County Tax Rate Boost Approved

County commissioners approved a 0.75 mill increase for next year raising the total county rate to 2.86 mills from 2.05. The raise funds two voter approved levies 0.45 mills for Pleasant View Sanatorium and 0.65 mills for child welfare, plus 16 general operation 0.02 for bond retirement and the two earmarks.
