NASA researchers warn that warming oceans and atmosphere will raise thunderstorm severity across the United States. Lead author Tony Del Genio says stronger updrafts will yield more lightning and larger hail, increasing tornado risk in the Southeast and Midwest. Some scientists caution results are not yet definitive.
