Wellington report notes 128 entries across seven classes at the Lorain County Fair tractor pull last Wednesday. Winners shared a $310 purse per class with prizes ranging from 100 to 10 dollars, as tight margins separated top placers by under a foot on the sled.
Rain delayed pulling for about two hours then the track was scraped and events resumed ending around 2 a.m Thursday. Winners per class include Class G Jeff Miller and Michael Fridenstine in second and Art Butcher third. Class F Glen Fink and Ed Born. Class E Joe Brasee and Frank McConnell. Class D Matt Mull and Fred Pitts. Class C Doug Brubaker and Chad Clark. Class B Dean Axell and Jim Calame. Class A Gerry Smith and Harold Connorth.
Polaris Career Center staff received multiple honors at the All Ohio Vocational Education Conference in Columbus. Maria Phillips earned the Distinguished Service Award for expanding home economics from six to over 100 offerings. Judy Walsh, Pat Kohark, Shirley Williams, Lynda Hodermarsky, Melanie Urban, Karen Flyte, Pam Vizer and others won additional OCOVE awards for leadership, program excellence, and advisory roles.
