Crash Kills Lorain Man On Pearl Rd

Lorain County reports a traffic fatality on Pearl Road where Matoid Jewett, 43, of Lorain, lost control on a curve at high speed. The car struck a telephone pole and tree near 4346 Pearl Road, killing him instantly.

O'Neill Names Cuyahoga County Judge

Gov. William O'Neill announced the appointment of Charles F. Carr a Cleveland lawyer and Republican to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Carr, 58 a Cambridge native and former law partner of Supreme Court Justice Thomas J Herbert, succeeds the late Parker Fulton and fills the vacancy in Cleveland.

Car Crash Fatality Reported in Lorain Area

Witnesses described a fatal collision in which Mr. Jewett’s head was severely injured after a car struck a pole. Davila awoke to the crash and attempted to summon help, but phone service was disrupted by the impact. The Jewett vehicle was seen with another car shortly before the crash. Jewett’s body to be processed at Finley Mortuary in Lorain.

Four Killed and Ten Injured in C124 Crash Near El Paso

An Air Force C124 Globemaster crashed two miles from El Paso International Airport, killing at least four crew and injuring ten. A Biggs AFB crew carried out a Hunter AFB to Biggs flight. one missing crewman was later found but status unclear. Survivors reported only minor injuries as the aircraft burned and broke apart.

Lorain Man Killed In Curve Crash

A Lorain man identified as Marold Jewett of 1935 West 19th Street died when his late model Lincoln left the pavement on a curve at Pearl Road and 48th Street just south of Lorain. Police say the car struck a telephone pole then a tree, scattering motor parts on the lawn of Jose Davila at 4346 Pearl Road.
