MTV VMAs honor New York with Springsteen tribute
At Radio City, Bruce Springsteen opened the MTV Video Music Awards with The Rising homage to New York post Sept 11. The show mixed reverent moments with spoof skits by Jimmy Fallon and surprise appearances, including James Brown and Michael Jackson receiving an Artist of the Millennium award on his 44th birthday. Eminem faced boos after winning best male video. Luda performed provocatively outside. Giuliani received praise for NYC recovery efforts.
