Lincoln youth to enter Nebraska U aided by state Gratitude Fund
Roy Blunt, a sixteen year old freshman from near Springfield Nebraska, will begin engineering studies at the University of Nebraska this fall funded by a state Gratitude Fund for his late father who died during the 1912 prison break. The fund arose after Blunt’s father died defending the prison break and three convicts. The account supported education for Roy Blunt Jr. through eighth grade, with farm life and a pony ride to school described before his college plans.
