Capitol Riot Indictment Revised To Bypass Immunity Ruling
Special counsel Jack Smith filed a new Washington indictment retooling charges in the 2020 election interference case against Donald Trump. It deletes references to Trump’s interactions with the Justice Department and other officials while stressing actions taken in his personal capacity as a candidate. The four counts remain obstruction, conspiracy to obstruct, conspiracy to defraud, and conspiracy against the right to vote, with the case returning to Judge Tanya Chutkan for further review and scheduling.
