Former county building eyed for probation lab revamp
In Elyria the 1881 sandstone predecessor to the county Justice Center sits largely empty as officials plan to invest up to 100000 to convert part of the 35000 square foot structure into a probation department and urine-testing lab. County administrator Jim Cordes says full restoration could reach about 25 million, depending on extent and historical accuracy. Commissioner Mary Jo Vasi favored preservation while Betty Blair and David Moore backed the probation project.
