Voters to decide Deerfield development on November ballot

Lorain County voters will decide in November if the Deerfield retail and residential project at Oak Point and Cooper-Foster Park roads proceeds. The county Board of Elections approved placing the referendum on the ballot after Lorain Auditor Ron Mantini missed the August deadline. Mantini recertified petitions, and a prior challenge over an eligible voter was rejected. Heritage Development Co. opposes the plan. Amherst and Lorain councils must rezone, but only Lorain’s vote is subject to the referendum.
