Jimmie Fidler Reflects On Hollywood Stars And Public Demand
Jimmie Fidler recalls Hollywood veterans noting most enduring stars earned top status via audience demand rather than studio push. Examples include Gable, Rogers, Crawford, Davis, Cooper and Colman who rose to fame after public response. He contrasts this with stars pushed by publicity who largely faded. Memories of Connie Bennett’s gambling win and McCarey’s casting anecdote add color to industry observations.
