In Constantinople on July 27 Dr Blanche of Bidon Iowa received the order of George I from King George in recognition of her relief work for Greek orphans. The high commissioner called her the first woman honored and said her example would inspire Greek women to improve social conditions in Turkey. The news notes a July 29 entry about the Kerrassunde relief effort and campaign contributions.
George White, chairman of the national committee, announced that party leaders will examine the source rather than the amounts of all contributions. He stated that "Peace, progress, prosperity" will be the three word slogan of the democratic campaigners and that with this slogan the party should be "Cox sure" of victory.
