The Lost Quarry of Indian Hollow and Willow Park
Grafton’s Indian Hollow quarry supplied sandstone for Lorain County buildings and was rail shipped. From 1849 to 1919 the site changed hands several times, and by 1929 Cleveland Quarries held control as concrete reduced quarry activity. A book by Paul Justy and Chris Smith, with Doris Wildenheim, chronicles the quarry’s workers and history based on local memories and Amherst Historical Society documents.
