Celebrity donkey races raise funds at Lorain County Fair
About 60 racers competed in five heats at the Lorain County Fair to raise money for the Junior Fair Board. Riders included county commissioner candidates and fire department members. Elyria residents will pay final respects to Army Sergeant Daniel M. Shepherd, 23, killed August 15 in Iraq when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle was hit by an insurgent bomb. Visitation runs 4 to 8 p.m. today with a 11 a.m. Saturday service at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home on Chestnut Ridge Road. Seating for up to 250 people. procession route publicized by city officials.
