Florida tobacco settlement braces for national deal
Florida clinched an 11.3 billion tobacco settlement over 25 years, allowing bans on tobacco billboards and advertising even if Congress fails to pass a national deal. The accord, seen as insurance, preserves Florida’s timing with a broader policy and shields future suits while teeing up a nationwide pact with stringent advertising limits and tax deductions.
