Pilot urges facing fear at Cleveland aero-anxiety seminar
Pan American pilot Tom Bunn led a weekend session at Cleveland Hopkins urging anxious fliers to press up against the fear barrier. He cited that even the safest airline travel compares favorably with car travel and noted that 60 percent of plane crashes survivors. A phobia clinic coordinator estimated over 25 million Americans fear flying, with fears including claustrophobia and loss of control. One participant, Freeman Fletcher, described panic on a January flight but later completed therapy and a graduation flight, aided by group support and exposure.
