The 1982 season ends with a demolition derby and Pontiac Night as Lorain County Speedway hosts final regular racing. Bob Morris to award special trophies as double points reshape division standings. Dan Shullick leads open wheeled features with five wins while Randy Wynne closes in.
John Logan and Jim Ward clinched the 1982 supermodified and sport stock titles at Sandusky Speedway. The semi late model and street stock crowns see a tight fork between Elyria’s Ron Henes and Valley City’s Jeff Hooker going into Saturday’s final points meet. Henes has three feature wins this season with nine top five finishes. Hooker owns six feature wins and a best-record run but missed a July 24 race at Shady Bowl Speedway. A potential 90 points is up for grabs as the season wraps. Transmission problems trim Elyria’s Dave Ennes’s amateur street stock lead, with Dan Mihalek and another challenger close behind.
