Medical Mutual Donates 1 Million to LCCC Foundation
The Lorain County Community College Foundation received a $1 million gift from Medical Mutual the largest corporate gift in its 50 year history. Funds support the Emergency Assistance Program and Fast Track short term training scholars including the Medical Mutual Bridging the Gap and Momentum scholarships.

OSU gardeners urge help to save monarch butterflies at fair
Lorain County Extension Office volunteers Bev Stives and Peggy Vasu urged fair visitors to plant milkweed and start backyard pollinator gardens to aid monarchs. They displayed eggs caterpillars and chrysalises in a net house and noted monarchs face threats from climate change and pesticide use as populations fluctuate. Lorain Mayor Jack Bradley proclaims Maggie Hawthorne age 100 for longtime city service and family contributions. Hawthorne, born Aug 15 1921, has lived in Lorain 60 years and is noted as a stylist and cook. Her large family includes four hundred plus descendants.
