Reporter Theo Curtis freed after nearly two years in Syria
Peter Theo Curtis born Theo Padnos, a freelance journalist, was released from al Nusra captivity in Syria after almost two years. Qatar aided negotiations. Curtis was held by Jabhat al Nusra, later flown to Tel Aviv then Boston, with UN confirming a medical check and handover to U.S. authorities in the Golan Heights. Curtis’s release follows James Foley’s killing and U.S. efforts to free remaining hostages.
