Midwest power grid concerns push utilities toward PJM
Federal regulators warned a year ago that Midwest grid reliability could falter as utilities eyed joining the PJM Interconnection rather than local groups. Critics warned of overlapping regions and complex seams, while some executives urged centralized oversight. FERC later dropped the issue, paving the way for Midwest utilities to join PJM with aims for a seamless common market by late 2004.
