First day fair attendance breaks record at Lorain County Fair

Attendance on opening day reached 20 153, a 6 878 rise from 1969 and 27 percent above the prior first day high. Hank Williams Jr shows drew 2 500, Florists Association honors Juanita Dunford of Jay Florists, and Pat Boone roses will be awarded Saturday. A Holstein cow swept top awards, and harness racing opened with notable records set by Hidden Pleasure and Ozarks Beauty. Voting for new fair directors continues to 7 p.m. with seven seats available.
