Remembering Berlin and a beauty tip from Paul Bertan
A memoir fragment recalls Nixons East Berlin visit and crowded cafes under police eyes, with a life arc from wartime to postwar Europe. It juxtaposes beauty salon advice and a warning that freedom requires constant vigilance from Americans, as told by Mrs Bedard, a survivor who traveled from Berlin to Salzburg and finally to the United States.
