John N Willys Dies in New York Pioneer Auto Leader
John North Willys a pioneer automobile manufacturer and former ambassador to Poland died in New York at 61 from heart disease. His death came as his wife and daughter Mrs Jose de Landa were at his bedside. Willys built the Overland line after buying the company in 1907, led Willys Overland to wealth, and later served as ambassador to Poland under Hoover. He resigned as president in 1932, then returned as head and sought to manufacture 10,000 cars this year. He was born in Canandaigua on October 25, 1873.
