Ukraine celebrated the sixth anniversary of independence with Sea Breeze 97, a multinational peacekeeping exercise near Crimea. Rear Adm. Mikhaylo Yezhel opened the event as US ships USS Ponce and Spruance arrived, while crews relaxed with beer and games to ease Russia's stance. The drills, involving Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia, aim to boost Ukraine’s navy and regional peace amid NATO ties and Russia relations.
