Petition Drives Vote on Elyria Street Vacating Plan
A referendum campaign launches to let Elyria voters weigh the city council street vacating pact with the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Proponent Robert H. Rice says the drive seeks public input on vacating Bon Air and Wesley Avenues and Hilliard Rd in exchange for turnpike turnarounds, $125000, and no bridge construction. He notes the effort aims to let residents decide the council’s decision and that the city risks fewer bridges across the Black River if approved. The drive continues as petitions gather signatures for a general election vote.
