Fire damages Grafton home after toaster fire injures couple
Severns, both in their 90s, were taken to the hospital and later released with no injuries. Their son-in-law, Ken Yacobozzi, said Gerald and Lee Severns were making breakfast when the toaster sparked a fire that confined to the kitchen but caused smoke damage throughout the house. Fire Chief Glen Thompson said occupants escaped before crews arrived and firefighters contained the blaze quickly. It will take four to six months to rebuild as neighbors support the Severns’ return plans.
