Safe in County Office Opened After Five Day Lock
The county treasurer s office safe opened yesterday afternoon after five days closed. A clock mechanism caused the door to jam Monday morning and an expert used four heavy timbers to force the combination. The 40 year old safe shows age and calls for replacement, though no action has been taken. In prior years an attempted nitro glycerine blast failed when thieves fled after pouring the explosive into a hole near the dial.
