Ballot issues loom in Cuyahoga County Nov election
Voters in Western Cuyahoga County face a busy ballot on November 3 with county and state candidates and multiple issues. Berea asks a 0.5 percent municipal tax increase from 1.5 to 2 percent to fund water, recreation and capital projects, plus a 1-mill 25-year school bond generating about 14.6 million. Fairview Park places three rezonings. Olmsted Falls schools seek a 4.82 mill bond for a middle school. Rocky River district proposes a 3.3 mill continuing levy. Strongsville rezoning and charter changes aim at non-partisan May odd-year elections and council meeting scheduling, plus a 2.26-mill bond for the Strongsville School District. Westlake plans a 0.375 percent tax increase 1993–2007 to fund roads, storm sewers, drainage and water lines.

Budget cuts shrink area arts grants in 1993
Ohio Arts Council trimmed grants by 30 percent, reducing total awards from 6.77 million to 4.97 million and lowering the number of funded projects from 471 to 449 for the 1993 fiscal year. The cuts affect Berea Lorain Oberlin Elyria Huron and Berea area groups including Project Joy and several college and museum programs.
