Midview Education Association moves toward strike
Negotiations between the Midview Education Association and the school board stalled Friday, signaling a possible teachers strike at 12:01 a.m. August 31. Union president Joseph M. Stark said members will vote on the board’s final offer, which starts at 15,300 for 1987-88 and 15,600 the next year, below other districts. Superintendent Linda Huntley said classes would continue with substitutes if a strike occurs. Stark called the offer a two percent raise and an insult to teachers, noting unresolved issues on sick leave, liability insurance, contract duration, and union fees.
