Lawsuit seeks rewrite of redistricting ballot language
Citizens Not Politicians and two residents urge the Ohio Supreme Court to order changes to ballot wording for Issue 1 a proposed redistricting amendment. The suit targets the Ballot Board and Secretary of State Frank LaRose arguing the 900 word description misleads voters by portraying the measure as enabling gerrymandering. It accuses the current wording of bias inaccuracies and political slant while outlining the plan to replace a map making panel with a 15 member citizen commission selected by retired judges to draw nonpartisan districts. The suit notes prior legal challenges to ballot language and cites Oxford definition debates over gerrymandering and partisan control.
