Lorain County Author Promotes Soil Work and Books
Edward HJ Faulkner of Elyria wrote four books on soil management influencing farming practices from Ohio to Australia. A county agent and vocational agriculture teacher, he broadcast a WTAM farm program and urged experimental farming without chemical plows or fertilizers. His 1954 overview Soil Development outlines tenets of soil improvement and organic matter, stressing soil as an end in itself while acknowledging weather and light limits.
