Fire practice test at St Jude sparks critique
Lisa Roberson reports on a fire department test at St Jude School that critics call a bad call. Interim Fire Chief Joe Pronesti says no policy was violated though the location was ill advised and not officially ordered. Hayes, an unpaid athletic director with a son in the school, defended the deck gun spray as uncompensated activity.

Abatement deal reached to resolve Lorain home tax dispute
Lorain city and Lorain County commissioners reached a settlement on tax abatements for 355 homeowners tied to five community reinvestment areas created in the 1980s. The plan, approved Tuesday, would start the abatements in 2008 with 100 percent relief for 15 years, while pre spring 2006 homes would pay about 25 percent of taxes as annual fees. Homeowners would receive credits for taxes paid this year to offset early fees.
