Reducing Farm Agencies Favored by Lorain County Boards
Lorain County Farm Bureau Cooperative and Lorain County Farm Bureau boards in joint session urged consolidating agencies serving farmers. They proposed merging the Agricultural Extension Service, Production and Marketing Administration, Soil Conservation Service and Forest Service under a county agent and two central offices to cut costs and duplication. They also suggested merging the Farm Credit Administration with the Farmers Home Administration while praising expansion of the Agricultural Research Administration and Rural Electrification Administration. The meeting, at Secretary Brannan’s request, seeks farmer views on 11 agencies, stressing value of most agencies but cautioning against overprovision of aid to keep marginal farmers viable. In nearby Indiana, Donald R. King awoke after his car struck a guy wire and rolled over but escaped unharmed.

Reserve Supplies Of Feed Grain To Be Used This Year
Columbus reports that despite large total feed grain supplies for 1951 52 rising numbers of grain consuming animals will require dipping into reserves. Ohio State Agricultural Extension Service notes per animal unit supplies will be down slightly from recent years as corn use rises to an estimated 3.3 billion bushels. Carryover likely shrinks to 650 700 million by October 1, but hay is ample and the overall situation is not critical.
