In South Lebanon Ohio on August 19 a Dry Run bridge and a Little Miami River bridge were washed out by high water. Crops and buildings in the floodplain face heavy damage as continuous rainfall drives residents from river bottoms and Turtle Creek at Lebanon overflows flood areas.
Heavy rainfall triggers sewer overload and canal breach in Hamilton Ohio. Water bursts from the canal at 14th Street flooding basements and widespread streets. Auto and goods losses in downtown stores are expected to rise, with streams and the Miami River rising.

Edem France, 65, a former Akron city firefighter, died today after slashing his throat with a razor following illness. Police seek a man who fled Case Avenue after Patrolman Bruce Ward halted a suicide attempt hanging from a clothesline. an officer cut the line and the suspect escaped with the rope still about France’s neck.
Newport reports police fingerprinted household servants at The Breakers, the Vanderbilt summer home, in a bid to locate a robber who stole jewels worth between 3500 900 and 500 000. Fingerprints were matched against Mrs Vanderbilt's empty jewel cases found nearby.
Samuel A. Stewart aged 52 died Wednesday at his home 2414 Apple Avenue Lorain. He had eight weeks of funeral planning and had arranged pallbearers undertaker casket and a cemetery lot. He will be buried Saturday in Elmwood cemetery.
Tony Alfva of Ripton Center faces a $1000 fine after deputies discovered 130 gallons of corn liquor stored in a garage during a raid led by Sheriff Fred A Underhill. Alfva claimed ignorance of the liquor’s nature and said a friend from Cleveland stored it with potatoes. he pleaded not guilty to possession. The sheriff ordered destruction of the liquor.
An official investigation was ordered after a fire and explosion at the Norfolk Army Arsenal in Virginia. Authorities reported a small magazine explode but caused no fatalities or serious injuries. Most workers were away at a preview show when the blast occurred.
In a county hearing at New Brianswick NJ Judge Cleary ordered Carpender and Stevens held without bail on charges of murdering Rev Edward Thal. Special Prosecutor Limp SOD announced no further evidence after a witness testimony by NY pollen photographer John Day. Defense counsel argued rights to present evidence before the grand jury.

Aug. 19. Cortney Kihott, a Warren woman, arrested by Narcotic Agent McDonald of Cleveland, faces possible transport to Cleveland after authorities found cocaine in her possession. Authorities say she was the chief aide of Edward Markling of Canton, arrested Aug. 14. She was arraigned before United States Commissioner Davis Whiting, Dr., and held on $5,000 bail. This is McDonald’s third arrest in the case, with another woman Mabel Opgawee detained previously.
