Planning Commission unanimously approved the Chestnut Commons connector road dedication named Reaser Pointe Crossing. The project, funded after land donated by Dan Reaser of DBR Commercial Realty, began in April 2020 and finished in October but remains closed awaiting City Council final approval.
Reaser alleges the Walmart connector caused flooding on his property and filed a suit Aug. 9 for breach of contract trespass and nuisance seeking damages over 25 000 per count plus attorney fees. His attorney Roger Stewart criticized a planning hearing notice as noncompliant with a development agreement. The city defends the right of way and planning scope.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine urged parents and school officials to reconsider mask mandates as Ohio nears the new school year. He warned of a perfect storm and urged decisions for the next few weeks when virus spread will be high.
Lorain County JVS will require masks indoors for all students staff and visitors as classes resume Monday Aug 30. A daily COVID-19 symptom self check is required and a 3 foot distancing rule will be enforced with water fountains deactivated and hand sanitizing stations available.
