Hurricane Bob lay 45 miles south of Cape Hatteras at 9 a.m. EDT with 115 mph sustained winds and gusts to 130 mph. Warnings extended from the Carolinas to Plymouth Massachusetts as the storm lashed the region.

Dam breaks evacuations hit Supai village in flash flood
Heavy rain preceded the Redlands Dam failure flooding Supai village home to about 400 Havasupai people. Hundreds were evacuated by helicopter while boaters on Havasu Creek were rescued. Evacuees were moved to a Red Cross shelter in Peach Springs as flash flood warnings remained in effect.
