Nursing home rules blasted as extreme for Medicaid care
Ohio lawmakers heard nursing home experts criticize stringent Department of Human Services rules for Medicaid patients. Cheryl Phillips of Locust Ridge Nursing Home urged relief from strict documentation standards, describing a case where ink color flagged an error and denied a resident a month’s credit. Billing and funding cuts in Medicaid have reduced payments, pressuring facilities to seek restoration of administrative and general (A and G) cuts to regain margins amid staffing challenges.
