Coors Defends CPB Nomination Against Critics
Millionaire brewer Joseph Coors defends his nomination by President Ford to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting arguing he is a conservative voter should not trigger attacks. He says one person cannot control the CPB board and vows to be outspoken while 14 others may vote him down. He notes TVN ties and asserts public TV is not a news service but stations may produce commentaries. Confirmation hearings set for Sept. 9 with a six year term.
