Vermilion man Howard H. Watson 87 dies after short illness
Howard H. Watson 87 of Vermilion died August 15 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born September 19 1926 in New Madre Missouri and lived in Vermilion 11 years moving from Elyria. A US Army veteran he earned two Bronze Stars the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He worked for Norfolk and Southern as a general yard master for 37 years retiring 1987. He is survived by his wife Ruth and family including sons Harry and Kenneth and daughters Izetta Peggy and Dianna plus step son Craig Bennett 17 grandchildren 59 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both wives and many relatives. The family will receive friends August 19 2014 at Riddle Funeral Home Vermilion with funeral services August 20 2014 at 11 AM at the same home. Interment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst with Military Honors by Vermilion Veterans Council. Memorials suggested to Grace Coen and West Lake Roads Vermilion OH 44089.
