Nelson sails with soda fountain and hotel‑style comforts
London reports the British Navy ship HMS Nelson carries a soda fountain and luxurious provisions beyond arms. The 1600 gallons of rum and 156000 pounds of horn accompany 42005 pounds of sugar and 10000 pounds of soap, alongside fresh meat, vegetables, and tobacco. The catering rivals a first class hotel with 4 cooks, modern electrical kitchens, machinery bakery, shipboard bathrooms, recreation rooms, a general shop, moving pictures, and a chapel for crew use.
