Elyria City Schools projects a calendar year deficit of 964971, down from 16 million, enabling a possible December closing. Budget cuts including bus reductions, staff trims, and halved purchases cut the gap while a state foundation payment and a one time 176000 state last year payment add funds. The closing date and budget details hinge on state auditor action and district actions.
