Memorial Armistice Night in Elyria Large Crowd Celebrates
Robert Henry Charles Human and Ralph Greenlee Jr. of Troop 105 helped serve the Scout canteen as about 200 people were served last night. Soldiers sailors and Marines filled the crowd with three military police officers present to aid local police. The MPs will stay indefinitely with officers from Cleveland and Camp Perry. An orderly crowd tolerated enthusiasm, a Marine greeting a MP on Broad Street. A drum parade formed briefly, attracting many junior members. Traffic detours formed as crowds overflowed downtown, horns sounding into the night. Police chief E J Stankard compared the turnout to Armistice Night in 1918 noting the earlier crowd packed Broadway.
