Elyria plans to demolish nuisance homes to boost neighborhoods
The city’s land bank and NSP funds target 237 properties overall with 154 demolished since 2013 and 55 more slated this year plus 28 in 2016. Brinda says strategic removal focuses on beyond-repair nuisances while rehabbed homes return to Elyria residents through NSP. County Commissioner Kale notes mixed blocks remain, citing pride restoration and a proposed Heritage Home Program with local banks offering low interest loans through link deposit programs.
