Lorain hosts ice cream social and new cookbook launch
Lorain marked its International City identity as the Lorain Historical Society unveiled Lorain Eats a Collection of Ethnically Inspired and Family Favorite Recipes at Carnegie Center. Executive Director Barb Piscopo said the volume includes more than 400 home recipes from Slovenian Russian Italian Puerto Rican German and Mexican contributors celebrating community diversity with notes linking each dish to a story or dedication.

Authorities ID man killed by police after confrontation
Columbus police identified Monroe D. Shackleford, 28, as the man fatally shot after emerging from a hotel room and firing on officers. A responding officer was grazed in the leg. one witness says Shackleford fired at them. He faced a felony abduction warrant.

Multiple shootings at Ohio party injure four
Police say a fight at a Columbus party left two children and two adults injured by gunfire. A 5 year old girl was shot in the leg and later two adults and a 10 year old girl arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds. All four are expected to recover. No arrests. witness cooperation limited. Separately in Union Township Fayette County a man was found shot dead at a mobile home park. Raymond Baker, 35, died at the hospital after being found Saturday morning. No suspect or motive released.

Road updates show statewide construction in Lorain County
Ohio Department of Transportation reports multiple projects in Lorain County. U S Route 6 near Washing ton Avenue to Arizona Avenue reduced to one lane for Charles Berry Bridge repairs with sidewalk detour. U S Route 20 between Stoney Ridge and Lear Nagle shifts to one lane each direction and widening begins on the north side. State Route 58 resurfac ing from Ashland County line to Wellington reduced to one lane with flaggers. State Route 83 closed for a bridge replacement with a detailed detour. I 90 bridges over Route 57 and West River Road under construction with nightly closures. All exits on Route 57 remain open with project complete targeted for May weather permitting. Other lane closures and detours apply along Route 83, Route 611, Route 113 and Lorain Road areas with reopenings aimed in fall.
