Kiddies Pet Parade Draws Over 2000 In Elyria
Elyria and surrounding area hosted a large Kiddies Pet Parade with more than two thousand children and their pets. Crowds of about ten thousand watched as 200 plus bicycles and 130 to 200 dogs led by the American Legion band paraded along Broad street from the Post Office to West avenue. Don and Roger Hershey, sons of Carl Hershey of Grafton, won the Colson bicycle prize for a cow costume, while the event featured a range of pets from puppies to guinea pigs and rabbits.

Berlin airlift plane crashes at Tempenhof airfield
A four engine American C-54 cargo plane carrying supplies for Berlin crashed during approach to Tempenhof airfield. Crew escaped before flames engulfed the wreck. The bomber was among several American losses since the Berlin airlift began last June 23.

Three Injured In Traffic Accidents In Elyria Area
Three people were injured in separate traffic incidents reported to the sheriffs office and Elyria police. George W. Cunningham's car left Route 82 near Route 57, injuring two passengers Irmity Smith and Paul Elliott, both taken to Elsna Memorial Hospital with bruises and possible jaw fracture. A five year old girl Lois Morrell was bruised after being struck by a car driven by Raymond Knight near Third and East Avenue after a parade. she was treated and released.

More than a thousand boys and girls who took part in the Pet Parade last evening attended a special two hour movie show at the Lincoln theatre. Police Chief E J Standard supervised the admission to the theatre with officers watching for safety as the children lined up along the north side of Road Street before the show opened.

The charred wreckage of a Navy Privateer patrol bomber was found high on an 800 foot cliff on Rota Island about 50 miles north of Guam. All crew members are presumed dead, typical crews area 11. Lorain County Budget Cuts Trim 1949 Plan Below Million
Lorain County commissioners slashed 1949 budget requests by 176 800 66 halting the total at 975 000 as certified probable income.
