John Reinhart, 65, longtime Amherst stone quarry worker, died after being struck by a machine while walking on South Amherst road. Police seek the unlit vehicle driver. potential manslaughter charges loom if identified. Reinhart survived by three sons and four daughters. funeral planned with Rev. Spell officiating.
A Berlin despatch reports Germany will form a coalition government under Gustav Stresemann with ministers from several parties. The note warns of possible internal strife if anarchy follows and notes banks failing to open while a rail strike threatens food shipments.

Peter Duekenic aged 29 was struck by a car driven by Edward Whitcomb of Grafton on Cleveland road near Ridgeville. He was treated at Memorial Hospital for bruises and abrasions and is reported in good condition this morning. His Cleveland address is 1561 East 30th Street. In Toledo an electric storm caused Walter Kwarsznski to be killed after trying to stop a live wire from igniting his home.
A headon collision between Colorado Southern passenger train 609 and Santa Fe train 6 near Fowler Colorado killed seven train crews and injured three others including a passenger Pearl Brown of Wichita Kansas. The crash halted three locomotives and damaged multiple cars as investigators from Pueblo and La Junta cleared wreckage and reviewed orders believed to have caused the disaster. Eugene O Brien a noted theater and film figure was aboard but survived.
President Coolidge begins a packed week at the White House handling routine governance and the late President Harding's unfinished business. He meets with Budget Director General Herbert M. Lord to outline economy measures as the Justice Department also moves forward with prior weekend talks.
Mary Wesley aged 62 died Sunday at her home 234 Harrison street after an extended illness. She was born in England and came to the United States 46 years ago, living in LaGrange 42 years. Survived by husband Anthony Wesley, one sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. W. L. Burner officiating. Burial at Ridgelawn.
Peking reports a Yellow Sea typhoon struck the Peitaiho area near the coast injuring many Americans. The storm wrecked scores of summer houses, causing widespread damage across the fashionable resort town.
California senator Hiram Johnson had planned no opposition to Warren G Harding renomination but Harding's death changes the scene. Johnson is now viewed as a potential contender for the Republican presidential nomination at the 1924 convention, with friends believing he will enter the race.
Governor Denahey said the state highway department will thoroughly investigate any violations of the Burke truck law after a complaint by Senator J F Burke Elyria. He urged strict enforcement and will refer the issue to Director Boulay for action on state and private trucks.
Two motorists died at a grade crossing in Morris Indiana when a Big Four passenger train struck a stalled car. Victims were Leona Haskamp of Cincinnati and Richard Krebs of Norwood. A guardian filed suit on behalf of minor Catherine Murphy for $100 in damages from an April auto accident on Telegraph road.
Six divorce suits were entered at the courthouse as of Saturday and Friday. Plaintiffs include Nina Ramser charging Albert Ramser with gross neglect and inadequate support since 1917, Matilda Potts alleging desertion by Leo Potts, John Rabich accusing Anna Rabich of neglect and financial misconduct, Frances Zunatz seeking absence against Michael Zunatz, Julia Hutchinson alleging extreme cruelty and neglect, and Coletta Taylor claiming Roy J. Taylor failed to support and maintain stable residence. The Lake Terminal railroad is ordered to withhold wage payments to Taylor.
A violent thunderstorm struck at 2 a.m. causing heavy rain and high winds, damaging gardens and crops while streets flooded. No telegraph or telephone outages reported locally, and the storm did not reach farther east. In Charleston West Virginia three or more people were reported dead from floods in the New River and Winding Gulf coal fields with crippled communications.
Gypsies visited Murphy's Radiator Shop at East River and Clark street on a Saturday. The proprietor found a tapped tile and cash missing. Police pursued the group to Gulf road, the leader returned with them, the cash drawer loss of $63.25 was made good, and the man was released.
In Kipton on August 13 Samuel Haines Tapton, 77, killed himself after shooting his son with a 22 caliber revolver. The coroner, Perry, viewed the scene and returned a verdict of suicide. The elder Tapton had been battling cancer and a prognosis without recovery prior to the act.
Judge Fudge Thompson rules in F E Schwartz et al v Board of Education that the district cannot issue 129000 in bonds to construct two new schools after voters rejected centralization. The decision hinges on limits after prior centralization vote and state repair orders.
